Best Laid Plans and all...

Remember last December 1 and we spent the day at the airport waiting for a airmiles free flight to (and from) Orlando. Remember how their flight partner had a computer glitch and couldn't print passenger manifests and so none of those flights loaded or flew all day and into the next. We drove back and forth and got our miles redeposited in our account. Remember? Okay. Fast forward. We used those same miles to give Delta another chance. We used them to buy first class one way tickets to Anchorage for the 7-day out North West Passage cruise. We expect to fly out on Thursday evening. That Delta flight hasn't left here for at least 2 days due to a computer glitch. It is showing expected on time for tomorrow, but that was true 24 hours ago for tonight's cancelled flight as well.  So! Right now they are saying the Thursday flight is still expected on time, but I can't help but feel that might be overly optimistic. The good news is that we have 5 days past our flight day to get to Anchorage. The bad news is that we will miss our Denali pre-cruise if Delta doesn't fly us. Fingers crossed!

In other news, Clay harvested the last of his tomatoes and dismantled his tomato farm!

Update:
Spoiler alert! I am not going to have anything nice to say about Delta Airlines! I went online to check in and get our boarding passes earlier this evening. We "bought" these Skymiles First Class tickets in February. We had seats 2 A & B on both segments. (Clay and I had both been checking and we still had these seats yesterday.) When I went to print boarding passes I found that I had been moved back to seat 12A in the main cabin for the first leg and Clay had been moved back to Comfort seat 6D. When we called Delta to complain, the excuse given was equipment change. I should point out that seats 2 A & B were still on this equipment, but since our seats were now assigned to someone else, who knows why we were bumped out with no valid explanation. Clay was promised some partial refund of miles and $200 vouchers each. She told him that we could complain when we go to check our bags and see if we can be seated together. Since when we printed our boarding passes we were offered vouchers to be bumped from the flights entirely, we are assuming that someone somewhere decided that more valuable customers than the 2 of us needed our seats to make up for the last 48 hours of most Delta flights worldwide being grounded. The woman Clay spoke to assured him there were blocks of vacant seats available that could only be assigned at the airport. As of yesterday, three were lots of vacant seats showing, but not today. Clay is thinking of making an early trip over to the airport to see what can be done to at least seat us together. We'll see. We are not regular Delta flyers and given the results of our last 2 attempts to fly with them, we are unlikely to become regular Delta flyers in the future. At this point, I am keeping my fingers crossed that we and our luggage somehow all make it to Anchorage by Friday. I know it is not just travel providers that fail to deliver what they are selling, but somehow I feel it more keenly when they disappoint. Maybe because it is so expensive and yet an entirely optional luxury. I suppose I won't feel too bad when we just start staying home or only taking car trips!
