First Wednesday!

1st Wednesday at Krispy Kreme is chocolate glaze
Why is 1st Wednesday so special? It is chocolate glaze day at Krispy Kreme! When did this start? We don't know. Recently! We went last month hoping to see the chocolate glaze waterfall, but evidently arrived too late at around 9:30am. We got 6 chocolate glazed donuts, but the regular white glaze was flowing. Today Clay was looking out for it and saw the hot sign and went in around 6:30am and caught the chocolate glaze just starting. Yum! What a hot mess!

The back half of the bottom video has a great close up of the chocolate glaze waterfall. Like something out of Willy Wonka!

Next up, A Big O Trip

Clay and I and my mother are all born in a year ending in an 8. So this year is a decade turn, or Big O, for each of us. In 2008, we had our first Big O trip together. This year we have a second Big O trip planned. The itinerary is pasted below. We are meeting a friend of Mom's who is also having a Big O birthday this year and traveling with us. We will all begin this trip by meeting at MSP where we will all fly on Iceland Air via Keflavik to Zurich. On arrival, hopefully we'll get a rental car and drive to Luxembourg for a 2-night visit before joining Trafalgar in Zurich. Hopefully because after we planned this and booked our flights Schengen rules changed. Now, we'll officially enter Schengen in Iceland during a short layover and not on arrival in Zurich. We'll see what happens. Fingers crossed we'll make the border crossing and our connection and visit Luxembourg. If not, we'll have a couple of days to get from Iceland to Zurich to join the tour. Stay tuned. Oh, we paid $3120.50 per person for the Trafalgar tour portion. Clay and I paid more than that per person for Business Class air on Iceland Air.

The end of the wreck saga

Clay waited a week after we knew State Farm had received our car title and all completed forms and documents and key. He was shuttled around making a number of phone calls before getting to the right team. There he was informed that everything was in order. What were they waiting for then? State Farm was waiting to send the check until someone complained and triggered a final act. So much for our being impressed by their good faith efforts. In any event, on Monday we received the check for the total loss of our Elantra. Fingers crossed that is the end of the wreck's aftermath. Bruises have faded away. I've finally driven the new Kia. It looks like we'll remain a one car family unless something changes.
