After I posted the last update, we got another phone call. That caller wanted us to drive to Greenville where the car is accruing storage fees and empty it, retrieve our plate and release it. Clay informed that caller that we had already emptied the car of all our possessions and removed the license plate before it was taken to Greenville. He released the car verbally over the phone. We waited at home all day the next day for an overnight delivery. On Thursday morning after Clay came home and opened the drapes he saw an overnight envelope on the porch floor. We have no idea when it arrived, as we never heard or saw anyone. The envelope did not contain a check. It required us to each sign and return a notarized power of attorney to reassign the title, send the unsigned title and any keys. We made a special trip to a UPS Store with a notary and shipped the return envelope. That was Thursday. Still waiting.
In the meantime, we have received a number of mailings from attorneys regarding our accident. Two of them included the Highway Patrol report on the wreck. It seems the woman who hit us was ticketed for a stop light violation. We had been dismissed with our wrecked car before that happened and didn't know until we saw the report.
In other car news, we discovered that we can use the level 2 charging stations at North Hills Mall and that they are free to customers. Clay was thrilled. At 240 volts instead of the household 120, it takes half the time. Since we are usually there at least once a week, Clay is replanning his charging schedule. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow at 9:15am, so he won't have time to charge the car between getting home around 7 and me leaving around 8:50am. He says I'll have to drive using gas. Hopefully that happens automatically! It will be my first time driving the new car.
Fingers crossed that the insurance check arrives soon and that is the end of this wreck business.
