NC Transportation Museum's Fall Train Trip

Either we've missed a couple of these spring & fall trips, or NCTM missed some, or both but we're booked for the next one. Looking forward to it.

Traveling Tours - Richmond, VA
All Aboard our Traveling Tour aboard Amtrak to historic Richmond, VA. Friday: Board Amtrak's Carolinian at 7AM in Salisbury, NC, and travel to Richmond. After checking in at the hotel, travel by motor coach to Carytown for dinner on your own and shopping. Saturday: Enjoy guided tours of the Virginia State Capitol, the American Civil War Museum and Tredegar Iron Works, the Virginia Museum of History and Culture and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. That evening, the Riverfront Historic Canal Cruise will show us another view of the city. Dinner will be on your own in the Shockoe Slip area. Sunday: Enjoy a guided tour of the Richmond area to include Maymont and Hollywood Cemetery. Board Amtrak Carolinian back to Salisbury, arriving at 7:50PM. Trip operates rain or shine. Train travel via standard Amtrak equipment with museum hosts.

Before we do that trip, though we have a quick trip to Asheville planned to see Chihuly at Night at Biltmore.

We're still waitlisted for a big trip to Asia next spring, now on Crystal Cruises after giving up on our RSSC version to come through. We are not feeling hopeful about this right now, but we're letting it play out for now. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, we working away on plans for an Eastern Europe trip in late summer/early fall. That one should come together for us. Since it will net a bunch of new countries, I am more excited about it than Asia right now. Time will tell, but we hate the uncertainty and waiting.

Speaking of which, we're at home waiting to see where Hurricane Florence will come ashore and when and how bad it will be. Fingers crossed here. We still well remember Hurricane Fran and 11.5 days without power! It will be bad for someone somewhere, that is for sure.
